Gas–liquid nucleation in associating fluids

چکیده
The density functional approach to nucleation is extended to the study of the condensation of associating fluids. We use Wertheim theory for associating liquids in a system of spherical interacting molecules with single association sites. Our calculations show that classical nucleation theory largely underestimates the height of the nucleation barrier in this kind of system, but most of that error can be corrected through the classical model of Katz, Saltsburg, and Reiss for nucleation in associated vapors. © 2000 American Institute of Physics. @S0021-9606~00!51402-0#

Ion-induced nucleation in polar one-component fluids.
We present a Ginzburg-Landau theory of ion-induced nucleation in a gas phase of polar one-component fluids, where a liquid droplet grows with an ion at its center. By calculating the density profile around an ion, we show that the solvation free energy is larger in gas than in liquid at the same temperature on the coexistence curve. This difference much reduces the nucleation barrier in a metas...
متن کاملA Modified van der Waals Mixture Theory for Associating Fluids: Application to Ternary Aqueous Mixtures
In this study a simple and general chemical association theory is introduced. The concept of infinite equilibrium model is re-examined and true mole fractions of associated species are calculated. The theory is applied to derive the distribution function of associated species. As a severe test the application of presented theory to the van der Waals mixture model is introduced in order to p...
متن کاملDetermination of Synthetic Phenolic Antioxidants in Biological Fluids Based on Air-assisted Liquid-liquid Microextraction Followed by Gas Chromatography-flame Ionization Detection
An air–assisted liquid–liquid microextraction method for the extraction and preconcentration of trace amounts of some synthetic phenolic antioxidants in biological fluids followed by their determination by gas chromatography–flame ionization detection has been reported. In this method the target analytes are extracted into a few microliters of carbon tetrachloride (extraction solvent) from an a...
متن کاملYukawa sticky m-point model of associating fluid
The product-reactant Ornstein–Zernike approach, supplemented by the ideal network approximation, is formulated for the Yukawa sticky m-point ~YSmP! model of associating fluid. The model is represented by the multicomponent mixture of the Yukawa hard spheres with m sticky points randomly located on the surface of each hard sphere. Extensions of the regular integral equation closures, which inclu...
